Tic Talk

I’m BACK! Thank you Mark at the Genius Bar (Fashion Island) for fixing my laptop yesterday. It was only gone for one day but I swear I had phantom pains. I kept looking at my monitor expecting to see my festive desktop and it was dark. You want to know what the problem was? My question mark key wouldn’t work. I had been too busy to take it in so I had to keep cutting and pasting previous question marks and it was starting to drive me insane. But thanks to Mark I can do this again ????????????????????????!

Random note: I can’t stop eating Cherry Passion Tic Tacs. I want to but I can’t. I’m starting to feel sick from them and I can’t control myself. The good news is these Tic Tacs are making me Tick Talk. So I am going to leak a page from Phoenix Five. Which, by the way, might end up being called something else 🙁 My publisher thinks the title sounds like a Sci-Fi series.  What do you guys think?

The following is the forward I wrote for the book.

A FORWARD BY LISI HARRISON

Nickel-colored storm clouds skulked above Noble High like timid freshmen.  Summer break was over. Notebooks were blank, sneakers were clean, destinies unknown. The seventh annual back-to-school downpour was all anyone could accurately predict.
Older students, and even some teachers, claimed the rain was really evaporated tears from terrified ninth graders. Because along with obvious “first day” stressors like; outfit regret, humidity hair, lame locker location, crush blushing, classroom confusion, lunch tray collisions, and loser abusers, Noble High students were expected to make like Microsoft and Excel. ‘Achieve or Leave’ was their unofficial motto; the Harvard of High School their unofficial name.

Ranked number one in the country for nearly two decades, the prestigious institution was the reason most families stayed there. Without it, Noble would just be another drive-thru town off the I-95; a weed in the Garden State.

Not that it would ever come to that. Scandals destroyed schools and Noble High didn’t do scandals. Yet in 2012, sometime over Labor Day weekend, that changed. Students returned from vacation to find copies of stolen journals propped up against their lockers. Journals written by five freshmen. Journals no one was ever supposed to see.

Now the clouds over Noble High will rain tears, not just for one day, but for many months to come.

(MY SIGNATURE WILL GO HERE)

If I find myself flush with holiday spirit I might leak an actual entry after Thanksgiving.

TTYAT,

Lisi

I wasn’t really sure where to post this for you because I’m sort of lazy when it comes to letters, not that I don’t l like writing them the sending part is just discouraging. And I gave my last stamp to this guy on my floor, it was for his absentee ballad so I felt I was helping America or something. Anyway. I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, I recently moved to New York and Westchester County, which I didn’t realize until a week or two in. That was the first similarity I found to The Clique. The second was how I am originally from Orlando Florida, like Claire. The next was a bit of a stretch but my roommates all resemble characters from the Pretty Committee. Not exactly, but there are significant things that stand out to me. Love for designers, their unwillingness to accept new people outside of their own circle, etc. Then I thought, wow that would make me Claire. In comparison to them at least. And I would be okay with this, I’m completely willing to accept new people, I’m open to different personalities, and I was looking forward to becoming friends with these girls. They are my roommates after all. The problem is they’re very controlling, and although I don’t feel like part of their circle they are always telling me how to dress, what to wear, etc. When I never asked their opinion. They also like to tell me how if I do certain things I’ll attract more guys. While there are guys who flirt with me, I don’t pursue them and try to keep them off because I have a boyfriend. Oh here comes another comparison. They tried to convince me to break up with him , even though they weren’t as drastic as to drown his notes in paint, I would not put that past them. My only hope for the rest of my freshman year is maybe we can find some common ground. Because if I have already had issues in which they have said things that were not meant to be repeated, and they have this tendency to get mad at me, not tell me what I did (if I even did anything) and then not talk to me. I’m getting off track. The point was I just found it ironic, and I’m holding on to the hope that maybe we can get along eventually, and they’ll accept that although I don’t care much about my outfit being perfect, or hooking up with more than one guy in a night(because I know one of them has) that we can still get along..

I admit it when I was googling you Lisi, I accidentally typed in ‘Lisi Horan’ instead of Harrison. Ooops. 😛 1D on my mind. xx

LOL. I’m not kidding. The Saturday before this post, I was dumping a box of Cherry Passion Tic Tacs down my throat while I worked at my fashion challenge class, we have challenges over a 5 month time span, every Saturday. I’m obsessed too. NO JOKE!!!! 🙂

New blog post! Just click on my name!

  • Laura says:

P5 seems really good! I can’t wait to read the whole thing! Personally, I like the title and I don’t really see the confusion. To me, its more about the cover. If the cover looked all mystical with a phoenix and magicalness, then I could see the problem, but I’m sure it won’t be like that. Whatever you chose, I’m fine with. Hope you figure it all out! 🙂

  • Aisha says:

Wow, omf I’m really excited for the Phoenix Five, which apparently next Wednesday I might be calling something else. I can see why that title might be misinterpreted, though.
I’m addicted to cherry passion tic tacs too! Well, not anymore, but I used to live on those things. Seriously.
The foreward (foreword? prologue?) was great. I’m extra excited for the series now. Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store now. Please upload an entry or something next week, anything! 🙂

I honestly like the title but maybe if you must change it maybe pheonix high? Idk.

  • nadiabean21 says:

I don’t mind the title Phoenix Five it sounds like a clique of 5 people from Phoenix, Arizona to me.. That’s great that your computer works again! Congrats!

Ps what does your sticky note say at the bottom? Can’t read it.

Your book sounds amazing!! I love it!
Thanksgiving is really soon- I am soo excited. Are you gonna see Breaking Dawn? My sister is seeing it at 10:30! I am not a big fan of the movies, but the books I found were very good. 🙂

  • Lillie says:

Yeah, Lisi, I think it sounds a bit sci-fi too but we don’t know yet what happens, so maybe there’s a reason it’s called Phoenix Five.
I’m excited for your book, and I think a lot of teens (esp. girls) can hopefully relate to it.
Best of luck and Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  • purpleowl16 says:

It kind of sounds like sci fi, so how about one of these..
    Stolen Secrets
    The Fall of Five
    The Notorious Nobles
    Hope this helps!

I can’t wait for (I want to write “The Phoenix Five”) A Forward to come out!

  • Kimberly C. says:

I’m excited for the series, but I think a different name might be better. Phoenix Five sounds more like a horror movie. What about Fab Five? 🙂

  • I’m so excited to read the book!!! 😀

  • Arianna says:

That was pretty awesome. I kinda loved it and I’m really excited for this series. Honestly, Phoenix Five sounds like a team of superheroes. Plus, what does a Phoenix have to do with New Jersey? Sorry if that sounds rude, but I can get why the title would be misleading. I’d think of a band of teenaged superheroes from Arizona.

But despite the title I’m so excited for your new book! I can’t wait for it! ANd I’d love to see a journa; entry! *Wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

    LLAP,
    Ariana

  • Cassie says:

Hey Lisi! Great Blah-g! Loved reading the forward. & the pic 🙂

    • Cassie says:

BTW: I have the same tic-tac thing with Peppermints. And I have to admit, Phoenix Five kind of reminds me of the whole “Phoenix Lights” thing that happened in Arizona years ago. Aliens or something? Whatevs. The content of the book sounds really great though! 🙂
