Humble-Blah-gging

Humble Bragging = Bragging about yourself while couching it in a phony show of humility.

Example: I wrote the first two Clique books while working at MTV but when Best Friends for Never debuted at #7 on the New York Times Bestseller list I was forced to quit and write full time. Suddenly life became very lonely. It was awful.

I, Lisi Harrison, am a Pretender. I have ventured beyond my limitations in a playful way. I have spray tanned, batted false eyelashes, dyed my hair, worn a water bra, and jammed my gut into SPANX! I’ve performed live concerts for invisible crowds and faked my period to get out of swim class. I’ve said it’s not him, it’s me when it was him and I’ve used a fake I.D. to vote. I’ve even claimed to use a fake I.D. to vote when it was really to rent a vehicle. I mean a bike. I mean… fine, I tried alcohol before I was 21. Kidding. It was to vote.

Photographic Memory

Two amazing things happened last week while I was visiting my family in Toronto. Okay, I’m lying. So many amazing things happened because I spent an entire week with my bloods and we crack each other up. And since I’m (RHYME ALERT) no longer in their faces on a daily basis they appreciate my humor (humour) a lot more than they used which is good for the old confidence.

But two things stood out as Blah-g-worthy.

The Majority Report

Just when you thought you’d seen the last of pie charts and percentages for the summer, I give you this. The results of last week’s Gracelet poll. I wasn’t kidding when I said only 200 could vote because I didn’t pay for the upgrade but somehow an extra 128 of you made it in anyway. Love that. CLASP YOUR VOTE!

The brilliant jewelry design team at Gorjana & Griffin has come up with yet ah-nother Gracelet design and this one is even better than the one I showed you last week. The envelope is smaller and it’s on macrame instead of long leather cord. Why wrap your wrist like a mummy when you can stack it with a chummy? That’s right, I made a bad rhyme. Judge if you must but you know I have a point. The small envelope and tight macrame weave makes these Gracelets easier to stack than the bulkier ones I showed you last week. Flight Risk

My ah-mazing editor Erin Stein flew in from NYC today. We were going to spend the day in Laguna doing all sorts of author-editor activities and I was all set to have you tag along. My plan was to take tons of pictures and post them on today’s blah-g. Of course I would include charming captions so you could experience the love, laughter, and synergy first hand. ARTS & DRAFTS

Hola! My body is back from Mexico but my brain has missed the connecting flight. This has been a week of nothing but Thursdays for me and I’m not sure why. Monday I was acting like it was Thursday. Yesterday? I made a dinner reservation for “tomorrow” thinking it was Friday. And today I showed up at a meeting that is scheduled for tomorrow–Thursday! Wishful thinking or permanent damage from my attempt to surf? Unclear. But it was worth it because I had a blast.

Happy Wednesday everyone. It was a happy one for me I’ll tell you that. Alisha (office elf) and I spent the entire day talking about the plot for the second book in the series formerly-known-as-Phoenix-Five and we were dying laughing. I mean duh-iiii-ing!
